Upon entering our office, our receptionist will welcome you as a member of our family. We will request that you complete our patient forms located in the New Patient Center. This paperwork provides us with your health history and information on your condition.
Your first visit to The Janssen Clinic will include a detailed review of your current and past health concerns with Dr. Janssen. After you discuss your concerns, a complete exam will follow to find the cause of your condition. In addition to general exam procedures like blood pressure, pulse, respiration, etc., specific orthopedic and neurological tests may be used to assess range of motion, joint function, muscle tone, and neurological integrity. However, nothing will be done in our office without your consent.
Your doctor will then discuss his or her recommendations for treatment. You are encouraged to ask questions and be informed so that you are comfortable and confident in your therapy. Treatments may be performed on your first visit depending on the nature of your condition and time available for your scheduled appointment. Your doctor will often schedule a follow up visit soon after your initial visit which is more treatment intensive.
Treatment plans oftentimes require several treatments to achieve the desired results. Factors including the nature, severity, and duration of your condition are taken into consideration when a treatment plan is developed. It is important to follow your doctor’s recommendations to make sure you progress through the course of treatment and reduce your risk of setbacks. Our ultimate goal is to naturally restore and optimize your body’s function so you can fulfill your life’s ambitions in abundance and purpose.
We do not take x-rays at The Janssen Clinic. If you have had x-rays taken we encourage you to bring them on your first visit. In some instances, Dr. Janssen may refer you out for special imaging if he deems it necessary after performing the examination.
Report of Findings
Once the information is collected and examinations are performed, Dr. Tate Janssen will give you a detailed report of all findings and answer any questions including:
- How can you help me?
- How often do I need to come in?
- What will my treatment cost?
After reviewing your health history, goals, and examining your spine, Dr. Tate Janssen will discuss recommendations and notify you if your condition requires care with other providers. Dr. Tate Janssen will provide the best treatment and wellness program for your needs.
At the conclusion of this initial appointment. This may include spinal adjustments, physical therapy, and/or soft tissue massage. Treatment is interactive, so you can express concerns about the different styles of treatment anytime.
Prior to leaving, the doctor will suggest a wellness program to incorporate outside of treatment. If you are in pain when you first come into our office this may include:
ice or heat application instructions, certain activities or positions to avoid, and at home exercises and/or stretches. If you desire, our wellness team will work with you also to
create healthy habits and routines for your lifestyle. Every person is unique, therefore everyone requires a customized wellness plan. The purpose of our wellness
program is for you to achieve good spinal alignment, have a healthy diet, exercise, and maintain a positive mental state.
